Scott Gorlin

Scott Gorlin, Ph.D., is Vice President of Data Science at Gradient AI, where he leads the team advancing the company’s machine learning and AI capabilities for the insurance industry.

Scott brings nearly 20 years of experience building and leading data science and applied science organizations, with a focus on reproducible research and move-the-needle high impact algorithms. Before joining Gradient AI, he spent nine years at Liberty Mutual Insurance, most recently as Vice President of Enterprise Data Science and Responsible AI, where he led the Office of Data Science in delivering centralized research, tooling, and standards for data science and AI teams across the global organization. Earlier, he directed applied science for Solaria Labs, Liberty Mutual’s innovation lab, and led algorithm research and development at ChoiceStream, a programmatic advertising company.

Scott holds two patents in computationally efficient scoring methods and previously taught Advanced Python for Data Science at Harvard Extension School. He earned his Ph.D. in Computational and Systems Neuroscience from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his B.A. in Neuroscience from Boston University.
